Astagina was the 2nd resort we filmed in Bali and one of our favorite places to stay. It’s conveniently located in Legian and close to shops, restaurants and a 5 minute walk to the beach. The vibe is very chill with guests lounging by the pool, enjoying great tunes and downing beers. The main pool has a swim-up bar and is lined with deck chairs and day beds on which you can easily forget about your worries and relax for hours. Overall, the resort has got a bit more of a traditional feel to it with a lot of timber and greenery which isolates you from the bustle of the surrounding streets. At the time of our stay, a second main pool (including a beer garden) was being built and is due for completion in April 2017. We approve of this decision.
The resort rooms are quite nice with nearly all of them looking over the main pool and the beds are comfy AF. But the main draw card for me was the private villas. They’ve got a a super chill vibe to them and come with their own pool and living area. There’s some photos (with Frank) below. You can also get this ‘floating dinner’ experience with the villas where the staff bring you a little boat with food on it and you just eat while swimming (or standing) around in the pool. Weird concept, but hey, it’s Bali, you can do whatever you want. Check out our video (when complete) to get a better idea!
In regards to the resort facilities, it’s pretty much just the main pool, day spa (which is awesome!) and the main restaurant. They also offer cooking classes and yoga for the guests who are after a more extreme experience. Overall it’s a great little resort which offers heaps of value for those who are more budget conscious. We definitely recommend staying here and will definitely go back next time we’re around Legian.
